What's "Score highly in mentee satisfaction" when becoming a top mentor?
To become a top mentor, you need to fulfil a large variety of factors that put you into the Top % of mentors.
One factor that is sometimes creating confusion is "Score highly in mentee satisfaction". This factor is being kept vague on purpose – as it includes factors that may not be entirely visible to you.
How we evaluate mentoring quality
We have three main factors we're looking at when evaluation how high the quality of a mentoring program is.
Reaction time
How fast you react to new applications and inquiries has a direct correlation with how well mentees feel taken care of. A top mentor always also needs to hold the "Quick responder" badge, or the reaction times are likely too slow for us to consider the top mentor status.
Public rating
Your public star rating needs to be impeccable at a 4.85 or over. Our average rating algorithm will sort out outliers (both negative and positive), so don't worry if there's a one-time slip up.
Private rating
Because there's a pressure to give a public 5-star rating (as is in any marketplace), we also collect some private feedback in cases where mentees end their mentorships, and rarely also in scenarios where mentees are still working with you.
The private ranking errs more towards a 3/5 for "met my expectations", and anything above is an even greater outcome. This helps us move away from 5-star ratings to something that's more distinguished, but hard to display publicly.
We require top mentors to at least slightly exceed expectations on average. Namely, they should score at least 3.9/5 on this scale.
Finding out your current score
For obvious reasons, we cannot show the privately left ratings to you, or the same pressure to leave a dishonest rating becomes true again.
If you are not currently meeting the "mentee satisfaction" factor, it may be worth to consult the AI Feedback in your Reviews section.
If you currently do not have the "Feedback" section available, you have not yet collected sufficient feedback to provide anonymity for your mentees and you'd have to check back later.
