Canceling sessions will no longer incur a fee

This update is only relevant to users receiving their payouts to Stripe (Connect) directly.

Previously, when you got booked for a one-off session, the payment would directly get transferred to your Stripe account. If the mentee ended up canceling the session, you would incur a fee, due to Stripe's rules on fee reversals.

Since August 17th, this is no longer the case, as we will now only reserve the funds on the mentee's credit card, but not charge it yet. You'll see a note regarding this on your dashboard.

You might also realize that recent session payments show up as "Uncaptured" in your Stripe account.

We will automatically capture the payment once one of these scenarios happens:

  • You "complete" the session and mark it as done
  • You use the new "Charge now" function on your dashboard
  • It's been 6 days since the booking

After successful authorization, there is no chance of the payment bouncing or failing, so you can proceed with the same safety as you were able to before.

Please note that if cancellation happens after a payment capture (i.e. more than 6 days after the booking), the usual refund fees still apply.
