How does quarterly billing work?

Enabling quarterly billing

By default, your mentorship plans are renewed every month. If you’d like to offer a discount for mentees who show long-term commitment, you can enable quarterly billing under Settings > Plans > Plan details. Quarterly billing can be turned on/off for each plan independently.

The same amount of discount will be applied to the public price (how much mentees get charged) as well as your payout (how much you get paid). For example, when you offer a discount of 10% for a plan with a public price of $450/month and a payout of $400/month:

  • A mentee who has selected quarterly billing will pay $450/month × 3 months × 90% = $1,215 every three months
  • You will get paid $400/month × 3 months × 90% = $1,080 every three months

What does it look like for mentees?

Once you enable quarterly billing for a specific plan, it will show up in addition to monthly billing. Mentees may choose their preferred billing cycle at the checkout, during the trial, or after working with you for a while.

After you accept a mentee’s application, they can select a plan and a billing cycle at the checkout, provide their payment details and start working with you. If this is their first mentorship with you, they will be able to modify their plan and billing cycle before they are charged at the end of the trial.

During the trial, or after working with you for some time, mentees may modify their billing cycle as needed. This means they have an opportunity to get to know you before committing long-term; they also have some flexibility to “downgrade” as their needs and circumstances change.

Q: My mentee wants to switch from monthly to quarterly in the middle of billing cycle. What happens next?

A: The new billing cycle will start immediately and we will apply proration accordingly. For example, if a mentee switches from a $450/month monthly subscription to a $405/month quarterly subscription (billed $1215 every three months), assuming the switch occurred halfway through the billing cycle, the mentee will be billed an additional $990 upon the switch: -$225 for unused time on the monthly subscription, and $1215 for the new quarterly subscription.

Q: My mentee wants to switch from quarterly to monthly in the middle of a billing cycle. What happens next?

A: The change will be applied once the current quarterly billing cycle ends.

A: Your existing mentees will have access to the quarterly billing option too!

Q: Some of my mentees are subscribed to a plan and paying me on a quarterly basis. If I disable quarterly billing for this plan, what happens next?

A: Your existing mentees will remain on the quarterly plan until they change their plan to the monthly cycle or end their subscription. New mentees or existing mentees on monthly plans will not have the option to select the quarterly plan anymore.
